Reset your password ​

If you can't remember your password, ask for a reset link.

To ask for a link, follow these steps:

  1. On the sign-in page, click Forgot password?.
  2. In the Email address field, enter your address.
  3. Click Send reset link.

The page says that a reset link is on its way if that address has an account. The answer is the same whether or not an account exists, so the page can't be used to find out who has one.

The link works for one hour. Asking for a new link makes every earlier link stop working.

Choose a new password ​

To set the new password, follow these steps:

  1. Open the link in the message.
  2. In the New password field, enter a password of at least 10 characters.
  3. In the New password again field, enter the same password.
  4. Click Save password.

You're signed in with the new password, and every other session ends, so anyone signed in elsewhere is signed out. For more information, see Sessions.

A password that doesn't meet the rules is refused before the link is used up, so a typo doesn't cost you the link.

A link that was already used, or that's more than an hour old, is refused. Ask for a new link and open the newest message.
