Change your email address

Your address changes only after you confirm it from the new address, so a mistyped address can't lock you out.

Change your address

To change your address, follow these steps:

1. Go to Profile.
2. In the Email address section, click Change.
3. In the New email address field, enter the new address.
4. If your account has a password, in the Current password field, enter it.
5. Click Send verification link.

A verification link goes to the new address, and the page confirms where it went. Your account keeps its old address until you follow the link.

Confirm the new address

Open the link in the message that went to the new address. The link works for 24 hours.

When you follow it, the following happens:

• Your account starts using the new address, and the address counts as verified.
• A message goes to your old address to say that the address changed.
• The change appears in your activity.

What's refused

• An address that another account already uses.
• The address that you already have.
• An address that isn't a valid address, or that's longer than 254 characters.

Asking for a new link makes every earlier verification link stop working, so the newest message is the one to open.
